Welcome to the Graduate Students’ Association of the University of Ottawa (GSAÉD). We are a dedicated organization committed to representing and advocating for the interests of graduate students at the University of Ottawa. Our mission is to enhance the academic, social, and professional lives of our members through various initiatives, services, and events.

Our Mission

At GSAÉD, our mission is to:

  • Advocate for graduate students’ rights and interests.
  • Provide support and resources to help students succeed academically and professionally.
  • Foster a sense of community and belonging among graduate students.
  • Organize events and activities that promote social interaction and networking.

Executive Committee

Our team consists of passionate and dedicated individuals committed to advocating for the needs and voices of graduate students. Our key members include the Governance Commissioner, University Affairs Commissioner, Student Life & Equity Commissioner, and Coordinator of GSAÉD.

Board of Directors

The Board of the Graduate Students’ Association of the University of Ottawa (GSAÉD) guides the association’s strategic direction, sets policies, ensures representation of graduate students’ interests, oversees financial management and provides support to enhance students’ academic, social, and professional lives.

Departmental Association

The Departmental Associations at the Graduate Students’ Association of the University of Ottawa (GSAÉD) represent and support students within specific academic departments. They focus on advocacy, community building, support services, and networking opportunities. Associations receive funding from GSAÉD and can apply for additional grants. To be recognized, they must register and renew their status annually.

Governance Commissioner

The Governance Coordinator is responsible for upholding the administrative integrity of the GSAÉD. Additionally, responsible for overseeing and representing the GSAÉD’s public communications and handling external issues. Marc also plays a crucial role in organizing and calling meetings for the Executive Committee and the Board, ensuring that proper minutes are recorded during these meetings.

University Affairs Commissioner

The University Affairs Commissioner plays a significant role within the GSAÉD, advocating for graduate student rights and interests. They act as a representative, addressing academic and student rights matters, ensuring representation in decision-making bodies. They organize academic events, offer assistance to Members in need, and foster open communication, fostering a supportive academic environment. info@gsaed.ca

The Student Life and Equity
Commissioner

The Student Life and Equity Commissioner is responsible for organizing student life events and services and amplifying marginalized voices. They must ensure adequate service at university service centers. Additionally, they are tasked with developing support programs for marginalized communities, ensuring bilingualism in official GSAÉD documents, and overseeing promotions of the organization.
