Academic Project Fund (APF)

The Academic Project Fund (APF) is designed to support students who are presenting their research conducted at the University of Ottawa. This fund aims to assist students who have explored all other funding avenues and are otherwise paying out of pocket to present their valuable research. The APF provides financial assistance to help cover expenses related to attending and presenting at conferences, workshops, and seminars.

Eligibility Criteria

The fund is specifically intended for students studying under supervisors with limited research funding.
Students must diligently seek and exhaust all other potential sources of funding available to them, including departmental and external funding sources.

Application Process

Students must submit a completed APF application form, along with receipts or photocopies of receipts for all claims (meals and accommodation only).
A letter from the department/supervisor confirming departmental travel grant contribution must be included.

Funding Allocation:

Graduate students attending a conference may be eligible for a grant of up to $400 through the APF program
The funds will be deposited in the applicant’s bank account via eTransfer using their uOttawa student account.

On-Campus Conference Fund (OCCF)

The On-Campus Conference Fund (OCCF), also known as the Group APF, is dedicated to supporting academic and professional development through conferences held on campus. This fund aims to provide financial assistance to student groups and departmental associations that wish to host conferences, workshops, and seminars that enrich the academic environment and foster collaboration among students, faculty, and industry professionals.
